What mission exactly, I’m unsure of. But it seems to involve their famous little black jacket, a series of cute videos and Karl speaking French, so who am I to complain. Sit back and enjoy watching the Chanel gang play around with The Jacket:

Fashionable Christmas Gifts – Jewellery by Pyrrha
Posted: December 15, 2011 Filed under: accessories, classics re-imagined, Fashionable Christmas Gifts, jewellery | Tags: Danielle Wilmore, fashion, Pyrrha, reclaimed silver, Vancouver, Wade Papin, wax seal 2 Comments »I just discovered Pyrrha a few days ago but instantly knew their designs had to go on my Christmas list, both as a wish and a recommendation. Designers Wade Papin and Danielle Wilmore handcraft a unique range of jewellery inspired by antique wax seals in their Vancouver studio. Reclaimed silver, bronze and 14k gold are cast into cuffs, pendants and earrings. Because of the intrinsic symbolism of the original seals, every piece takes on a meaning by itself. The result are pieces of ravishing beauty that mostly lies in the fact that nothing is too perfect. To me they almost feel like you’ve stumbled across an amazing find on a flea market and remind me of an old Roman Agrippa-coin my mum used to wear when I was little. I remember being absolutely mesmerised by it!
Pyrrha jewellery is a great gift for just about anyone in my book. It can be worn by men and women alike and is always personal through the nature of its symbols alone.
To order any of the pieces above (and many, many more) or to find out more about Wade and Danielle’s work, please go to www.pyrrha.com!
Katherine Hooker – Taking the Show on the Road

Winter Cape coat, soft olive green cashmere and merino twill with faint ochre and burgundy overcheck
In less than two weeks, British designer Katherine Hooker will start touring the US with her autumn trunk show! This year’s tour kicks off in Wyoming before moving on to California and Illinois and finally reaching the East Coast with sales in New York on September 14th, 15th and 16th (the tour continues after that).
Katherine offers a unique mix of tailoring and a sense of British heritage with unexpected details and more exotic influences acquired through a childhood spent in Cyprus and Africa. Her pieces are perfect for autumn’s heritage trend. On first glance, they may seem rather traditional but it soon becomes obvious that an unexpected material or an unusually cut collar make these coats and jackets far more interesting and versatile.

Trends On Friday: She’s a Lady
Posted: July 29, 2011 Filed under: accessories, bags, classics re-imagined, shoes, shopping the highstreet, trends | Tags: Asos, Balmain, Cacharel, fashion, French Sole, Joan Holloway, L'Wren Scott, LK Bennett, Mad Men, Miu Miu, Repetto, Roland Mouret, Stella McCartney, Topshop, Valentino, Zara 2 Comments »Mad Men has finally caught up with us. There has been talk about the show’s influence on fashion ever since it became popular but it wasn’t until this season that the effects were felt on the runway as well. In a way Joan & Co have only been the catalysts. For Henry Holland or Jeremy Scott, there has been a Christopher Kane or Phoebe Philo. Judging from what I’ve seen when I previewed the fall collections and from what starts being delivered to the shops, there is no denying that lady-like dressing is back.
Lady-like. That’s an awful term. But I cannot for the life of me come up with a better description. To me ‘lady-like’ sounds boring and conservative. But believe me when I say that this is in no way true for what’s to come in the autumn. It is, in fact, quite the opposite of the dreaded work section at Warehouse (Sorry, Warehouse! I love you but not that bit.). Or don’t believe me and go see for yourself:

The perils of work
Posted: July 21, 2011 Filed under: classics re-imagined, netaporter.com | Tags: cape, Diane von Furstenberg, fashion, net-a-porter.com, netaporter.com 2 Comments »It all started out innocent enough. Despite the 37 degree heat outside, I decided to man up and face the autumn trends. But, you know, looking at lovely things more often than not results in wanting said lovely things. Especially if it’s something I’ve been day-dreaming about for seasons past. In this case we’re talking about a cape. I find them impossibly glamourous without looking ridiculous. To illustrate my point: there are a few other things out there that are impossibly glamourous as well but seem somewhat silly in our age and time. Like a fur stole. Or a jaunty little hat in broad daylight.
And this is the object of my current desire:
This is exactly what I will want to be wearing this autumn together with Hunter wellies when I skip through the rain and wind. Do you think I can set up one of those crowd funding things in order to buy it? Surely, that must be exactly what they were made for.

Breton stripes are one of the building blocks of my wardrobe. They are classic, chic but also a little bohemian. I like to wear them with everything and anything, from jeans to trouser suits. Heck, I even go as far as nicking my husbands stripy pieces. I dress them up with bib necklaces or down with tousled Bardot hair and Chucks. As versatile as they are tho, a few alternatives to the classic, plain ones would help to shake things up a little. So I investigated… And it turns out I’m in luck as fashion has fallen in love with Breton stripes again. They’ve never been gone really and I’ll admit that they always are big in the summer but these past couple of seasons designers seem to like putting their little spins on them. Without further ado, here is my selection (aka my wish list):

Spring Wardrobe – Lace

Blame it on Christopher Kane and Erdem but lace has taken over our wardrobes! If your granny’s tablecloth or 14-year-old goths on Camden High Street pop into your mind now, think again. Lace has received a much needed update and is back in bright colours, yes even in neon. That doesn’t mean black has disappeared altogether but the way lace is used is so modern, you won’t end up looking like you’ve just escaped an Alice Cooper video. For those of us who aren’t quite ready to ‘go there’, lace accessories are an easy way to update your look for spring.

Terra New York rainwear
Posted: May 5, 2011 Filed under: classics re-imagined, easy style, emerging designers, New York | Tags: fashion, parker, rainwear, Terra New York 2 Comments »Inspired by the current weather in New York, I’d like to dedicate this post to the best rainwear I’ve seen in a while. I was introduced to the line a few weeks back at a press day. It’s an amazing option when you’re not the type for a classic mac or want a raincoat for more casual days. Colours and, above all, cuts are very contemporary. I’m not entirely sure which material they are made of but it’s very lightweight and feels quite soft to the touch. Particularly nice are the drawstrings that run through the sleeves and around the hem of this parker. There’s only one style up on the website at the moment but the FW11 collection will have many more items and they’re all gorgeous!
